Vision
The vision of the Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment, which informs all our decisions and activities, is to be the faculty of choice for engineering & the built environment students and staff nationally and internationally.
The faculty comprises the following departments which cover the engineering and the built environment disciplines:

- Construction Economics and Management
- Chemical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering

The university has a diverse student body and teaching staff which results in an enhanced learning environment and the exchange of experience and knowledge brought about through this diversity. The faculty is equipped with a vast array of infrastructure and equipment often linked to ongoing research projects, thus offering prospective students the opportunity to explore many different areas of specialisation. The opportunities for continuing your education and conducting research at UCT are immense and certainly too many to do justice to here, but these will be revealed to you through the course of your undergraduate studies, allowing you to make informed choices as to your future career path.
