EBE Postgraduate Registration 2019

PLEASE ONLY COMPLETE THIS IF YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO STUDY IN 2019 AT UCT EBE, OR IF YOU WERE REGISTERED IN 2018 IN A PG DEGREE AND ARE A RETURNING STUDENT.

 Please note that UCT Students whose registration is dependent on deferred exam results from the 2018 examination session must wait until the final results of their current degree have been ratified before qualifiers can commence with the registration process.

  1. PLEASE NOTE: There are 3 modes of registration available to students:
    1. Online registration
    2. Remote registration and a Smart MOU
    3. Paper-based registration
  2. The mode of registration you follow will depend on what programme you are studying, therefore please READ CAREFULLY and follow the below table to register for 2019:

  1. All Honours students [Except Nuclear Power (EH007EEE) and Material Sciences (EH005MEC)]:
  • Please note that you will be sent a system generated message and will be required to log onto PeopleSoft in order to complete your registration. All international students however, will need to click on the relevant department below.

 

2. MSc and MPhil (only 180 credit dissertation)

  • Complete the Smart MOU below; click on your department below to send to relevant departmental administrator.
  • Await a notification for your online registration.

3. Doctoral

    Dear Postgraduate APG student

    • Please note that registration can be completed remotely any time from 09 January 2019, at which time the forms will be made available below.
    • The deadline for submission of registration documents to the Department for all programmes, both new and returning students, is 09 February 2019.
    • Please note that all South African students who are registering for an Honours in Landscape Architecture (EH008), Architecture (EH006), Geographical Information Systems (EH001), and Honours in Bachelor City Planning (EH009), will take part in online registration. This means that you must NOT follow the instructions below. Instead, you will be sent a system generated message and will be required to log onto PeopleSoft in order to complete your registration. All international students however, need to follow the instructions below.
    • If you will be attending any courses that start before the 09 February 2019, then you are required to submit your registration forms by latest the first day of the course.
    • If you are an International student, please ensure that you have IAPO clearance before submitting forms to your Department as the registration cannot be processed without you being cleared. See IAPO for more information.
    • RESEARCH STUDENTS: For students who are registering for a research course/dissertation or thesis (i.e. 180 credit Masters students and Doctoral students), an MOU (see below) MUST be completed and sent to your relevant departmental administrator (see below). This means that you must NOT follow the instructions below.you will be sent a system generated message and will be required to log onto PeopleSoft in order to complete your registration.     • OTHER COURSEWORK STUDENTS: Please follow and complete each step below.

    2. Honours in GIS; Geomatics:Masters/ PhD;Mphil - Conservation of the Built Environment

    3. BCP (HONS) / MLA / MCRP / MUD / Architecture Masters and PhD

    STEP 2:

    If you are registering for a research masters course (60; 120; 180 credit dissertation) or PhD (360 credit) thesis then download and complete the appropriate MOU:

    • MOU – new students / Abridged MOU
    • MOU and progress report – returning students. This should have been completed with your supervisor at the end of last year. If you did complete this last year, then you need not complete a new one, you can attach the completed version. If you did not complete this, then download this and complete now for submission.

    STEP 3:

    If you are registering for a research masters course (60; 120; 180 credit dissertation) or PhD (360 credit) thesis please ensure you have applied for ethics clearance – more information available here.

    If you have your ethics approval, please submit your approval with your MOU. If you are a returning student who has previously submitted this, then you are not required to submit again.

     

    STEP 4:

    STEP 5:

    Please complete and sign all forms from previous steps. You only need to sign under “student signature”. You do not need to obtain the Dean’s signature, this will be done by your Departmental Administrator. You need to scan this to your Departmental Administrator (see below) for Department approval and signature. Please can you ensure that the subject line of your email is “Registration 2019”. The Department will then take care of the necessary administrative processes and submit your documents to the Faculty Office for capture.

  • Chemical Engineering

    Dear Postgraduate Chemical Engineering student

  • Civil Engineering

    Dear Postgraduate Civil Engineering student

    • Please note that registration can be completed remotely any time from 09 January 2019, at which time the forms will be made available below.
    • Students who are intending to register for the (CIV5133Z) Transport Modelling course would have already received the pre-assignment for the course, the deadline for submission of registration documents to the Department for is 22 January 2019.
    • All other programmes, both new and returning students, is 09 February 2019.
    • If you are an International student, please ensure that you have IAPO clearance before submitting forms to your Department as the registration cannot be processed without you being cleared. See IAPO for more information.

    • The deadline for submission of registration documents to the Department for all programmes, both new and returning students, is 09 February 2019.
    • Please note that all South African students who are registering for an Honours in Construction Management (EH002), Property Studies (EH003) and Quantity Surveying (EH004) will take part in online registration. This means that you must NOT follow the instructions below. Instead, you will be sent a system generated message and will be required to log onto PeopleSoft in order to complete your registration. All international students however, need to follow the instructions below.
    • If you will be attending any courses that start before the 09 February 2019, then you are required to submit your registration forms by latest the first day of the course.
